Artist's Comments

This is about commercials.

Luckily for me, I don't have television to blare annoying voices at me all of the time. Nor do I have the patience to listen to the radio anymore. And other than hotmail itself, I never receive a single piece of spam (try to explain that one).

But everyone else has to suffer from constant constant constant advertising. Everywhere you turn is another giant billboard ... even the bathroom stalls aren't a safe haven. Fond memories are pushed out to be replaced with Jello jingles.

Anyway... It causes serious anxiety in natural creatures (re: HUMANS), which in turn allows even larger companies (re: PHARMACEUTICAL) to make even more money pushing drugs onto us instead of fixing the problem.

So that's it in a nutshell, really. Mental oppression.

as much as i hate it, i can't keep my self away from the magic box. Here where i live, there's no such concept as "no tv". I have a tuner in my room after most of my ever dwindling number of friends protesting about the idleness of my room. Saying that you don't have tv, is just like saying it is allright to hug a living grizly bear: a nonsensical impossibility.
i might ended up as one of those oppressed fools, yes. but most of us are still mentally infant to even consider that everyting that passes in front of our senses are to be considered, not eaten raw.
anyway, what did you do with the newspaper? simply pasted on to the main paper? the laughing happy heavenly people on the butt side: they deserve to be there.
:iconplanetsomsom:
lol... the people on the butt was an accident. it's actually an ad for adbusters promoting Buy Nothing Day, and the guy is saying "look honey, I bought something today" and she is saying "oh honey i'm SOOO proud of you". So yeah, i guess they do deserve it.

yes to the paste thing.

Pretty interesting piece of work. A bit over the top, perhaps, but I really like the combination of charcoal and newspaper. Keep it up. :D

Stunning, and a powerful purpose.

i also think tis a bit different to have no tv , in my house , granted a big house , there are 15 tv's , and recorders below most of them so i can record things and fast forward all the rubbish .
ive never thought of radio and things as needing patience , they are just on , i hardly focus on the radio and such unless what is being said on it is repeated , a tv is probably on most of the time here ,but i guess it doesnt matter because i hardly ever see an advert
